Guidelines for Grant Requests

The Hudson River Bank and Trust Company Foundation makes grants to support programmatic efforts on a year-by-year basis. Requests for charitable donations under $1,000 should be made at the community level, preferably through the Bank's local branch. Organizations may submit one request for support of any kind during a calendar year. Organizations submitting proposals may not submit separate requests during the year for fundraising events, conferences or other special events to benefit their organization.

Grant applications may be submitted at any time; there are no deadlines. All grant applications are reviewed by the Directors of the Hudson River Bank & Trust Company Foundation. Requests for grants under $1,000 will also be screened by local Bank employees. Only complete proposals will be given full consideration. Proposals sent via fax are not accepted. Requests will be processed within 60 days.

As a practice, the Foundation does not ordinarily contribute to the following:

  • Individuals
  • Political Organizations
  • Debt Liquidation
  • Religious Groups for sectarian purposes
  • Memberships for which the Bank receives a benefit

Sponsorships do have tangible benefits such as advertising or entertainment. Requests for sponsorships must be made in writing but do not need to follow the Foundation guidelines and procedures described here.
